The suit was a result of work done by KPMG for Resco Products.  KPMG advised Resco on strategies to limit the tax burden of the stockholders which turned out to be incorrect. The delay is to further investigate the costs of implementing the rule.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;SOX was designed to prevent the accounting fraud from the Enron scandal.   However, some of the laws provisions, disproportionately impact smaller companies. The bill would also reduce corporate tax rates from 35% to 30.5%.  The tax rates of hedge fund and private equity fund managers would also rise.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The bill is not expected to be voted on until next year.  But Rangel hopes to prevent the AMT being applied to 21 million more Americans next year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While we won't comment on the politically charged tax rate changes we do support the reduction of tax rates on corporations. Rajib Chatterjee, a 31 year old accountant in  Kolkata, India left his job to be a highway robber.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Over the years, Rajib built up a gang and a notoriety that would put even hardened criminals to shame.  They would stop trucks and loot them on the highways around Howrah.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Apparently, things were going quite well for him till six of his cronies were recently arrested. The information helps taxpayers know if they are eligible for any tax relief.   However, the IRS suggests that struggling homeowners should consider all their options carefully before going through a foreclosure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is because under the tax law, if the debt  wiped out through foreclosure exceeds the value of the property, the difference is normally taxable income. The disclosure requires the company to attach a dollar figure to tax-savings that could be vulnerable. The reporst describes an unnecessary tax return as one from people who do not meet the filing requirements but still file Federal income tax returns.  The intent is to either obtain a refund of taxes already paid or because they do not understand the law.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The report estimates that it took taxpayers an average of $390 million and 75 million hours per year preparing and filing these unnecessary tax returns. Paulson said the corporate tax code "includes ad hoc policies and preferences that result in a narrow tax base and create distortions that divert capital from its most efficient use."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Paulson has also spoken in the past about a need to reduce the overall rate of taxes paid by businesses.  However, it doesn't appear that the political climate will make that a reality anytime in the future.  People always think that corporate taxes are paid by big companies and not just passed along to the consumer in the form of higher prices. The changes are designed to reduce costs and increase accuracy. The changes are also supposed to reduced costs for smaller public companies.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"In approving Auditing Standard No. 5, the Commission has strengthened investor protection by refocusing resources on what truly matters to the integrity of financial statements. This is an exceptionally positive step for both investors and for America's capital markets," said SEC Chairman Christopher Cox.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This new auditing standard no. 5 replaces the auditing standard no. 2 currently in place. The provisions went into law in May are expected to increase tax preparation fees charged by CPAs. The increased costs are the result of higher reporting standards.  These higher standards may also have the unintended consequence of excessive disclosure for routing tax returns.
